Preferred Education:
Master's Degree
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
6+ years related experience in marketing, or marketing research
Graduate degree may be substituted for experience as appropriate
Basic understanding of and working knowledge to conduct marketing research
Command of skills necessary for verbal and written communications to explain analyses and quantified information
Ability to analyze basic qualitative and quantitative information and interpret relevant issues and insights from such activities
Ability to analyze basic external factors that may influence or have an impact on the company as well as the customers, distribution systems and operation
Ability to set work priorities that conform with established objectives, timeframes, and to accomplish a task in the most effective manner
Ability to maintain working knowledge and/or expertise in PC-based software programs, insurance/business concepts and assigned line of business as well as marketing and strategic planning concepts
Summary:
Responsible for conducting routine marketing research activities, including analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, report writing, and synthesis of information in support of marketing activities for the company
Implements research plans under the direction of marketing research management to deliver customer insights to business partners
Identifies appropriate sources and methods of data collection of consumer, customer, producer and competitor information
Works with research suppliers to track project deliverables.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for leading wide variety of primary and / or secondary market research projects. Prioritizes, plans and completes projects and rush, critical requests made by senior management; coordinates activities (for assigned products/distribution systems) within or outside the office, often without supervisor involvement.
2. When acting as a project leader, oversees the gathering, analyzing and disseminating of current information regarding consumer, customer, competitor, distribution channels, industry, regulatory, technological, demographic and economic environment with internal (including other offices in the enterprise) and external sources in order to be responsive to company, marketing and line management needs. Acts as the liaison for this service to other offices in the enterprise.
3. Initiates, evaluates and recommends contacts with newly developed sources of information. Creates sophisticated data collection instruments. Assists in the development and review of the analytical process to be used in the formulation of marketing plans to ensure that a disciplined, objective approach is instituted in the evaluation and creation of marketing plans.
4. Works with business unit partners to understand and/or determine best source of data information needs. Determines best way to address business needs. Effectively manages market research suppliers throughout project duration.
5. Assists in the evaluation of criteria for research design, in conjunction with product line management to ensure that technical line of business expertise is integrated into the research process. Schedules, controls, coordinates and reports project activity. This entails a determination of required resources, estimates of the time necessary to complete the project, and decisions regarding appropriate staff involvement.
6. Prepares written reports and verbal presentations of research findings focused on implications and recommendations for actions based on research results.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
