Position Overview

This is a remote position.

Hexion is a leading global producer of adhesives and performance materials that enable production of engineered wood products and other growing specialty materials. Aligned with the companys focus on addressing our customers most pressing challenges, Hexion has committed that all new products will incorporate sustainable attributes by 2030. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company and play a key leadership role on an experienced and dynamic team, as Hexion leverages megatrends such as climate change and a long-term housing boom.

This high-impact, remote role will report to the Senior Director of Building Materials and focus on developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives across Hexions growing Building Materials division. The initial priority will be to lead deep-dive market assessments across four strategic growth platforms - Coatings/Adhesives/Sealants/Elastomers (CASE), Infrastructure (Concrete/Asphalt), Fire Safety, and Advanced/Sustainable Construction Materials - outlined in the Building Materials strategy. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic marketing acumen, quickly learn and analyze industry dynamics, and translate insights into actionable strategies. Using best practices and standard frameworks, the Strategic Marketing Manager will help shape our go-to-market approach and collaborate cross-functionally to execute on those initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to long-term business growth, drive category leadership, and help position Hexion as a thought leader in sustainable, high-performance building materials.

The position requires demonstrated excellence in strategic marketing, including experience leading new product introductions and managing innovation pipelines. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a track record of developing customer-centric strategies, influencing cross-functional teams, and delivering results in fast-paced B2B markets.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct structured market deep dives to evaluate opportunity size, value chain dynamics, key players, and customer unmet needs across targeted Building Materials platforms.
  • Translate customer and market insights into clear strategic positioning and value propositions using structured frameworks such as Playing to Win , STP, Jobs-to-Be-Done.
  • Design actionable marketing strategies and go-to-market plans, including product, pricing, channel, promotion, and partnership strategies.
  • Partner closely with technical, commercial, and operations teams to ensure market requirements are incorporated into new product development and commercialization efforts.
  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership, contributing to the development, prioritization, and execution of Hexions marketing growth strategies.
  • Lead development of internal and external communication tools to drive alignment and influence industry stakeholders, including specifiers, contractors, and regulators.
  • Monitor competitive and regulatory trends and synthesize implications for Hexions positioning in the market.
  • Track progress of strategic initiatives and recommend course corrections based on evolving market dynamics and results.
  • This position reports directly to the Senior Director for the Building Materials business and receives functional guidance from the VP of Strategic Marketing.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, Chemical/Materials Engineering, or related discipline required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of B2B marketing, strategy, product management, or business consulting experience, preferably in industrial materials, chemicals, or building products.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new markets and uncover actionable insights through qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Strong command of strategic marketing models (e.g., Playing to Win , STP, Porters Five Forces) and experience applying them to real-world business problems.
  • Track record of creating and executing successful go-to-market strategies, including market mix development (product, price, promotion, place).
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience evaluating business cases, VCM impact, and scenario modeling.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills tailored to both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Proven agility and execution rigor in dynamic, high-growth environments.
