Job Description

AECOM is looking for a Proposal Specialist III to lead and support proposals for our Program Management business line. You will work closely with the West Program Management marketing team, growth team, business operations, and support staff to bring strong leadership, a keen eye for compliance, skilled writing, and creativity to some of our must-win pursuits. You will lead complex proposals and presentations and support capture teams from pre-RFP project positioning through to interview stage, as required.

This will be a hybrid position including a combination of both remote and in-office work schedules, that can be based in, but not limited to: Oakland, CA .

Job Summary and Duties

  • Leads proposals and presentations, and supports from capture through to interview stage, with support as required. Supports capture managers in development of the win strategy during capture through interview preparation.
  • Creates annotated outlines and content plan and provides recommendations to technical teams on section structures. May serve as lead writer and editor for tailored resumes, past performance sections, executive summaries, and/or management approaches for proposals.
  • Facilitates color reviews, quality reviews, and applies lessons learned to add value to proposals. Manages the implementation of proposal and presentation revisions based on direction from review teams.
  • Participates by providing recommendations in go/no-go and greenlight analyses in compliance with delegation of authority guidelines, capture planning and positioning activities as they pertain to preparation for the proposal.
  • Completes internal debriefs for proposals. Supports team during win/loss debriefs and gathering of client feedback on proposals for continuous improvement.
  • May support marketing or pursuits strategy and content development related to clients/markets, marketing communications, campaigns, account managers, and business lines, as necessary.
  • Performs a self-check of work prior to submitting to others for review/approval.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field and 4+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in InDesign and Creative Suite apps as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Acrobat Pro.
  • Demonstrates excellent writing and editing skills, consistently applying strong attention to detail and a drive for continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience using collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of marketing best practices and procedures, work processes, and tools, including strategic use of AI to streamline processes and other applications.
  • Ability to produce accurate, compliant, and compelling work independently and with others in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule, guide deliverable efforts by others, and manage documents and deadlines effectively.
  • Initiative, skill, and personal commitment to manage multiple projects and details concurrently, follow up, and bring tasks and projects to full completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field and 7+ years experience in a proposal specialist role.
  • Specialized knowledge of and interest in the A/E/C industry, including AECOMs projects, people, credentials, and competitors, is highly preferred.
  • Salesforce understanding and experience is a plus.
  • SMPS or APMP membership.
