COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Cooperative Production has 31 residential homes and 5 Day Programs. Our 24/7 supervised residential programs focus on a person-centered planning approach and working with individuals to create homes adapted to meet individual needs. We provide support in life skills, social skills, and community integration, emphasizing pursuing personal goals and interests. Each day, our staff provides guidance, support, and direction as needed on new skills and tasks, behavior management, personal development, social skills, and communication. They take pride in assisting individuals in achieving goals by maintaining knowledge of their learning styles, strengths, and support needs, and ensuring that skills are taught accordingly.

ROLE SUMMARY

Cooperative Production is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Communications Specialist to support the organization's marketing, communications, fundraising, recruitment, and community engagement efforts. This position is responsible for developing high-quality written, visual, and digital content that highlights the impact of our programs and services while strengthening community awareness and engagement.

The Communications Specialist will create and manage content across multiple platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, fundraising campaigns, recruitment materials, and public relations initiatives. This role also involves regular visits to program sites to capture stories, photography, and mission-focused content that reflects the experiences and accomplishments of the individuals we support. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller who can manage multiple projects independently while maintaining consistent organizational branding and messaging.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Excellent writing, editing, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated professional experience using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and InDesign

Demonstrated experience creating and managing content for organizational social media platforms

Ability to manage multiple communications projects and deadlines independently

Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Photography and/or video editing experience

Experience with WordPress, email marketing platforms, and social media scheduling tools

Experience working in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or human services settings

Experience supporting fundraising, recruitment, or public relations initiatives

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Develop written, visual, and digital communications materials that support organizational goals and initiatives

Create content for social media, fundraising campaigns, recruitment efforts, donor communications, newsletters, press releases, website updates, and event materials

Design and edit marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign

Manage social media planning, scheduling, audience engagement, and campaign execution

Monitor social media analytics and engagement metrics to support outreach efforts

Visit program locations to gather stories, photography, video, and other mission-centered content

Capture and edit visual assets for digital and print communications

Maintain organizational branding standards and consistent messaging across platforms

Support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship efforts, sponsorship initiatives, and organizational events

Maintain communications calendars and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

Collaborate with departments across the organization to identify stories, achievements, and communications opportunities

Provide event support, including occasional evening and weekend coverage

Advocate for the rights, inclusion, and community participation of individuals receiving services

Perform additional duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to travel between program locations and event sites

Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed

Ability to work comfortably in active residential and day program environments

Ability to interact professionally with diverse populations, families, staff, and community stakeholders

Cooperative Production is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting local citizens with developmental and other disabilities and brain injuries in a variety of residential and day programs, employment supports, and clinical services.
