What is the role?The Director of Marketing is a strategic and execution-focused leader responsible for translating Westerra’s business goals, brand platform, and growth priorities into integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable results.
This role leads the development and execution of campaigns, member growth initiatives, product marketing, and brand activation efforts that strengthen Westerra’s market position and deepen member engagement. The Director of Marketing partners across the organization to ensure marketing is not simply a communications function, but a growth engine that supports membership, deposits, loans, and long-term member relationships.

This leader combines strategic thinking, operational excellence, creativity, and data-informed decision making to move initiatives from concept to execution with clarity and accountability.
What will be expected of me?Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies aligned with Westerra’s enterprise goals, brand platform, and Measurements of Success (MOS).
- Lead marketing initiatives that support membership growth, loan growth, deposit growth, and Primary Financial Institution (PFI) behaviors.
- Translate business priorities, market insights, and member behaviors into actionable marketing plans and campaigns.
- Partner cross-functionally with Retail, Lending, Operations, Strategy, and Digital teams to drive alignment and execution.
- Identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness, member engagement, campaign performance, and operational efficiency.
- Lead strategic change initiatives that strengthen marketing capabilities, processes, and organizational impact.
Campaigns, Brand & Member Growth
- Oversee development and execution of integrated campaigns across digital, paid media, lifecycle marketing, retail, community, and internal channels.
- Ensure consistent activation and stewardship of Westerra’s You Can Do Money brand platform across all member touchpoints.
- Drive marketing strategies that deepen member relationships and position Westerra as a trusted financial partner.
- Guide campaign optimization through performance analysis, testing, reporting, and continuous learning.
- Support product launches, promotional campaigns, and strategic growth initiatives with clear go-to-market planning.
Team & Cross-functional Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop marketing team members while fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, collaboration, and learning.
- Provide clear prioritization and direction across marketing initiatives to ensure focus on high-impact work.
- Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, media partners, and vendors.
- Influence executive leaders and cross-functional teams through strategic communication, storytelling, and business insight.
- Foster alignment between brand strategy, member experience, and operational execution.
Marketing Operations & Performance
- Establish and manage marketing performance reporting tied to organizational MOS and campaign KPIs.
- Oversee marketing planning processes, workflows, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Partner with martech and analytics teams to improve attribution, campaign measurement, CRM integration, and member insights.
- Ensure marketing programs are scalable, measurable, and aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Support development of marketing governance, operational processes, and strategic planning frameworks.
Communication & Storytelling
- Elevate Westerra’s brand narrative internally and externally through compelling storytelling and strategic communication.
- Develop presentations, executive updates, reports, and campaign narratives that simplify complexity and demonstrate impact.
- Cascade marketing priorities, wins, and insights across the organization to build visibility and alignment.
- Help bring Westerra’s beliefs and culture framework to life through meaningful marketing experiences and communication.

- Perform other duties as assigned to support the growth, culture, and strategic priorities of Westerra Credit Union.

What am I bringing? Experience/Education:- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, brand strategy, advertising, growth marketing, or integrated communications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience developing and leading integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of brand strategy, digital marketing, campaign management, lifecycle marketing, and performance measurement.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing executive stakeholders.
- Financial services or highly regulated industry experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and marketing technology platforms.
- Strong verbal, written, and executive communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with ability to connect long-term vision to day-to-day execution.
- Ability to simplify complexity and translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change and growth.
- Ability to influence across teams, business units, and executive leadership.

- A valid Colorado driver’s license and the ability to travel between branch locations in the Denver Metro area and beyond using a dependable personal vehicle and/or Westerra Credit Union fleet vehicles, depending on the role.
- The ability to comply with Westerra Credit Union’s Motor Vehicle Driver Acknowledgement, operating procedures, and annual driver authorization requirements, including following all applicable driving and safety regulations when driving or traveling on behalf of WCU.
- The ability to meet driver eligibility standards, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record with no Type A violations in the past five years and no more than one Type B violation in the past three years.
- Typically, a dispersed, flexible team environment both on Westerra campus (at least 2x/week) and remote. Employees must reside in Colorado or be willing to relocate prior to starting employment. Residency is required for payroll and state tax purposes.

Salary : in addition to the starting salary of $98,751- $125,908, this role is also eligible for Westerra’s self-funding reward plan. This plan pays out a cash incentive annually if Westerra hits specific criteria tied to financial goals and this role has a direct impact on the outcome of those results!
