Collaboration is foundational to our practice. We are seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to help identify and secure new projects aligned with the firm's mission. Working closely with the Director of Communications & Marketing and firm principals, this role plays a central part in expanding WORKac's reach across typologies, building lasting client relationships, and leading the firm's RFP/RFQ pipeline from pursuit to submission. Key Responsibilities: Business Development Develop market strategies and identify new project opportunities aligned with the firm's creative and civic mission. Build and maintain relationships with a broad network of clients, consultants, collaborators, and institutions. Initiate proactive endeavors that support the firm's larger market strategy and expand into new typologies. Host potential clients; lead follow-up and develop internal recommendations for promising pursuits. Represent WORKac at industry events and conferences. Participate in leadership pipeline meetings and contribute strategic insight on pursuit priorities. RFP/RFQ Leadership Research upcoming opportunities and maintain a clear, active pipeline of pursuits. Find new channels and pipelines for RFP/RFQ opportunities across public, cultural, civic, and educational sectors. Lead, coordinate, and execute all RFP/RFQ submissions from start to finish, including narrative development, graphic coordination, and fee proposals. Craft strong, consistent writing that reflects the firm's voice, values, and design strengths. Evaluate submittal performance and follow up for feedback on a regular basis. Coordination & Operations Work closely with the firm principals and project leaders to align business development efforts with firm strategy. Interface with project leadership to expand the client and consultant network. Maintain and expand CRM databases (for example Airtable) and report regularly on new and potential projects. Produce content independently while discussing key strategy points with principals. Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, marketing, communications, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or a related role, ideally within an architecture or design firm. Understanding of architecture, design, and urban planning processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel). Experience with CRM systems and database management. Highly organized, collaborative, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
