The Social Media Content Creator reports to the Digital Content & Communications Manager and reports to the Chief Communications Officer. The Social Media Content Creator will develop and curate engaging, daily content for social media platforms; assist in the creation and editing of written, video, and photo content; implement marketing and communications strategies; attend events and produce live social media content; and maintain unified brand voice across different social media channels.

The Social Media Content Creator will be privy to confidential and privileged information and therefore must maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required.

The Social Media Content Creator responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Capture and edit short-form video content for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms
  • Collaborate with City departments to identify and elevate community stories, initiatives, events, and public service announcements
  • Support live social media coverage during press conferences, community events, emergencies, and mayoral appearances
  • Research audience preferences and discover current trends
  • Help create social media graphics when needed
  • Design posts to sustain readers curiosity and create buzz around the mayors priorities
    • Suggest creative ways to attract more followers
    • Organize and maintain a digital asset library of photos, videos, graphics, and campaign materials
    • Measure web traffic, monitor SEO and user engagement, and suggest content optimization
    • Create monthly social media reports and present to Digital Content & Communication Manager
    • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
    • Monitor social media messages and with residents/users and respond to questions and concerns
    • Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers, like promotions and competitions
    • Communicate with industry professionals via social media to create a strong network
    • Other project coordination duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field such as Marketing, or Multi- Media
  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven work experience in program administration

Preferred Qualifications/Areas of Expertise

  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven work experience as a social media coordinator
  • Experience in multiple social media platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
  • Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels
  • Ability to understand future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Multitasking and analytical skills
  • Ability to create reels, video or images for the various social media platforms
  • Strong communicator; possesses excellent speaking, listening, and writing skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to work expeditiously in a deadline driven environment
  • Understands how to use multiple sources of data to complete tasks
  • Ability to perform duties with tact, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Possess and demonstrate good problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with the issues affecting the City
  • Familiarity of the mayors voice and written tone
  • Ability to relate to and work effectively with persons of diverse racial, ethnic, gender, sexual preference or orientation, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Physical abilities to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
