We are seeking a Market Development Manager to serve as a critical field-based leader responsible for building advocacy, shaping market understanding, and driving engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and the broader retina community. They will report to the Senior Director, Professional Education.
The Market Development Manager is the strategic connector between Neurotech and the retina ecosystem, responsible for cultivating relationships with thought leaders and translating insights into actionable strategies. This role complements Sales and Strategic Accounts by focusing on influence, education, and long-term market shaping. This role partners closely with Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Patient Services, and Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with national, regional thought leaders
- Identify and cultivate relationships with emerging retina specialists
- Serve as the voice of the customer and translate insights into strategy
- Monitor competitive landscape and identify market opportunities
- Partner cross-functionally to align engagement strategies
- Connect Thought Leaders with other relevant parts of the Neurotech organization (e.g., Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs) while maintaining compliance with guidelines on appropriate medical/commercial collaboration
- Lead KOL engagement at congresses and key meetings
- Support speaker bureau development and educational peer-to-peer initiatives
- Conduct speaker training sessions when necessary
- Support in identifying ECP consultants, advisors, and speakers for key initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of biotech/pharma experience
- 2+ years in Thought Leader Liaison or similar role
- Strong KOL engagement and advisory board experience
- Ophthalmology required; Retina experience preferred
- Experience in buy-and-bill environment
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
- Business acumen and strategic thinking
- Understanding of U.S. healthcare ecosystem
- Excellent communication and executive presence
- High emotional intelligence and adaptability
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization
- Passion for improving patient outcomes
Willingness/ability to travel domestically up to 80% of the time; international travel may be required.
