Job Title: Summer Marketing and Communications Intern
Location: St.Paul and Minneapolis
Pay: $16.50
Hours: 10-20 per week
JOB SUMMARY:
The Morrison Family College of Health (MFCOH) is looking for a creative social media & content producer to join our marketing and communications team. In this role, you will help leverage MFCOH communications channels to inform, inspire and build community with students, alumni, donors, parents, faculty, staff and outside influencers.
The Marketing and Communications Intern will collaborate with people from across the college while building strong strategic communication, writing, design and multimedia skills through a variety of assignments. You will also have the opportunity to pitch your own ideas for projects that help to further the communications goals of the college.
We provide a flexible schedule (approximately 10 hours per week) that includes training, guidance and support.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Contribute to overall MFCOH social media strategy and regularly create social media content for MFCOH channels: Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
Grow channel reach and engagement
Monitor MFCOH social media channels on a regular basis
Schedule posts in our content management platform, Hootsuite
Execute a variety of editorial assignments, as needed
Research and write short feature stories, interviews, event recaps and more
Provide graphic design support utilizing Canva
Social media graphics
Ads and flyers promoting events and academic programs
Produce short video and photography assignments, as needed
Provide basic website support for MFCOH, making brief updates to college, department and program pages as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full or part-time St. Thomas undergrad or grad student pursuing a degree in Communication Studies, Digital Media Arts, Journalism, Strategic Communication, Business Communication, Marketing Management, or another related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Robust understanding of social media platforms and ability to create and publish content that conforms to MFCOH schedule and strategy
- Self-motivated and curious
- Detail-oriented and dependable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of photo and video editing tools
- Provide links to either your personal social media accounts or accounts you have managed
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
