Job Description

The Oxford Public School District is seeking a strategic, versatile, and proactive Director of Communications (Part-Time) to join our high-performing team on a part-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary architect of the district's internal and external narrative, ensuring our community remains informed, engaged, and connected. You will be responsible for elevating our digital presence, streamlining public information, celebrating student and staff achievements, and managing crisis communications with poise and clarity. This position requires an exceptional storyteller who can translate educational milestones and district updates into compelling, accessible content across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with district goals

Serve as the primary communications advisor to the Superintendent and , senior District leadership, and building-based leadership

Assist district-wide leadership in the drafting and distribution of communications to staff, families, and community members, including newsletters, emails, and district-wide updates

Collaborate with school and district leaders and departments to highlight programs, achievements, and initiatives

Write and manage press releases, media advisories, and official statements

Serve as the district's primary media contact and coordinate responses to press inquiries

Oversee and maintain the district website(s) and app, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and up to date

Manage and grow the district's social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement

Attend school and district events to capture content for communications

Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms and materials

Support crisis communications planning and response

Such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (Master's preferred)

5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related role

Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills

Experience managing websites and social media platforms

Strong understanding of media relations and public information practices

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Experience in education or public sector communications preferred

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may deem acceptable and appropriate

Salary: $40,000 (20 hours per week)

This is a non-union position
