JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing and Communications Manager serves as the primary project manager and strategic partner for Business Enterprise (BE) holding companies, supporting their growth, marketing, and customer-focused initiatives. This role ensures the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies that strengthen brand presence, drive customer engagement, and align with organizational objectives. The position requires expertise in project management, digital marketing, content development, and vendor coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Strategic Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate with BE holding companies to plan and implement marketing campaigns that support business growth and customer engagement.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all marketing materials and channels.
- Provide guidance on messaging, positioning, and creative strategies for BE companies.
- Support and participate in cross-company Chugach Marketing Council, actively contributing to council initiatives, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration among marketing leaders.
- Co-lead and facilitate the Arctic Strategy working group, driving the development and execution of strategic initiatives that position Chugach Alaska Corporation as a leader in Arctic business opportunities. This includes monitoring policy developments, identifying partnership opportunities, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Support and participate in Government Relations Committee, ensuring marketing and communications strategies are aligned with advocacy efforts and policy priorities.
- Support crisis communications response efforts, to include advocating for the 8(a) Program.
- Participate in the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Committee, evaluating and integrating business acquisitions.
Relationship Building & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal leadership, external partners, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Liaise with vendors and external service providers, negotiating contracts, managing deliverables, and ensuring high-quality creative outputs.
- Represent the organization at industry tradeshows, conferences, and networking events, actively seeking opportunities to promote Chugach's brand, expand its network, and identify new business prospects.
- Organize and participate in meetings with key stakeholders to gather insights, share updates, and strengthen collaborative partnerships.
Project Management
- Lead planning, execution, and delivery of marketing and communications projects for BE initiatives.
- Produce monthly CAC employee-wide e-newsletter.
- Create project scopes, timelines, and budgets; monitor progress and report to leadership.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for design, video production, and other creative services.
Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Co-manage social media strategy and execution for CAC, including content calendars, engagement monitoring, and analytics reporting.
- Manage website content updates and enhancements; support redesign projects and ensure optimal user experience.
- Track digital marketing performance and recommend improvements based on data insights.
- Support video production, podcasts, and other digital communication avenues.
Content Development
- Write and edit marketing collateral, press releases, blogs, and customer-focused materials.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand standards and organizational voice.
- Conduct interviews and research to create compelling stories that highlight BE initiatives.
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with BE leadership teams to align marketing strategies with business objectives.
- Provide logistical and communications support for events, campaigns, and special projects.
Professional Development & Industry Engagement
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in marketing, communications, and Arctic business strategies by regularly reading publications, attending webinars, and participating in professional forums.
- Actively participate in relevant professional associations and industry groups (e.g., AMA, PRSA, Arctic-focused business councils), representing Chugach and building the organization's reputation.
- Attend tradeshows, conferences, and networking events to expand professional knowledge, identify new opportunities, and foster relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and vendors.
- Pursue ongoing learning and certification opportunities to enhance skills in digital marketing, communications, project management, and leadership.
- Share insights and learnings with internal teams, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of related experience in marketing, communications, or a similar discipline.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (writing samples required).
- Experience in digital and social media channels, including Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Experience in administrative procedures, policies, and practices.
- Demonstrated intermediate skills in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
- Familiarity with AP Style.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and perform multiple duties on short notice.
- Strong writing ability and experience in journalism, technical, or creative writing.
- Experience with graphic design software, including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Preferred:
- 6-10 years of related experience in marketing, communications, or a similar discipline.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Familiarity working with Alaska Native Corporations.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
- Active participation in professional associations (e.g., AMA, PRSA, Arctic-focused business councils).
- Experience representing organizations at tradeshows, conferences, and industry events.
- Demonstrated success in building relationships with key stakeholders and vendors.
