Assistant Product Development Manager- Workers Comp (hybrid/remote)

Summary: This position is responsible for contributing to the strategic business plans for Workers Compensation line of business and leading the execution of the product roadmap. This includes ideation, market research, definition of minimum viable product (MVP), and documentation of business requirements. May also be leading special projects. Coordinating implementation of enhancements, across supporting business departments. Ensuring that the team follows and maintains best practices for continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Strategy/Research
    • Work with National Product Leader(s) to execute company strategies.
    • Demonstrate awareness of each state’s regulatory environment and legislative rules to ensure that compliance standards are met.
    • Conduct market and competitive research. Support consumer research projects.
    • Lead the evaluation of vendors and their contracts. Assist with building business cases and CBA documentation.
  • Design/Prototype
    • Lead the team through the design and decision-making process for MVP development.
    • Engage and support digital team with product enhancements.
    • Support the development and documentation of the customer journey map.
  • Development
    • Actively participate and represent the product in the agile product(s) development process.
    • Define business requirements and road maps for country-wide product and versions implemented by each state.
    • Execute the strategy by setting priorities of assignments for the IT Team(s).
    • Identify issues that block or hinder progress. Surface the appropriate issues to National Product Development Line Leader for resolution.
    • Collaborate with IT, Agency Interface and Underwriting in delivering and maintaining a market-leading efficient and accurate quoting and business submission platform.
  • Go To Market
    • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and the Product Managers in state product and version rollouts.
    • Produce countrywide documents, templates, training materials.
    • Communicate with business leaders on the progress, issues and developments of the National Auto and Home products.
  • Reporting
    • Communicate with business leaders on the progress, issues and developments of the National Auto and Home products.
    • Perform product analysis to provide clarity of desired results through various corporate reports and creating/maintaining requirements of dashboard reporting from Business Intelligence Unit.
    • Track progress against the version calendar and identify any deficiencies or deviations.
  • Other
    • Lead and maintain best practices with CI (Continuous Improvement) over product lifecycle. Support change management.
    • May lead special projects.

What You’ll Bring To The Company:

  • Bachelor’s degree with advanced degree and/or professional designation (e.g. CPCU) preferred.
  • Field of study in Risk Management, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years Commercial Lines experience, including 1-3 years of direct WC experience.
  • Must have knowledge of industry trends, state regulations, and compliance processes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate analytical and strategic ability.
  • Must possess interpersonal communication skills and be comfortable working in a matrix environment.
  • Must be able to manage ambiguity when making decisions and possess the ability to convey complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Experience working in an iterative development environment with a functional knowledge of Agile methods and tools a plus.
