The Director of Marketing & Communications shapes and executes the Society's comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, advancing its brand, educational products, membership, and events. This individual leads all aspects of marketing, content, digital platforms, publications, and public relations - ensuring consistency, creativity, and measurable impact across every member and stakeholder touchpoint. Both a strategist and an implementer, the Director sets the vision, fosters collaboration, and delivers compelling messaging to promote the society's mission and offerings. This position reports to the VP of Membership & Operations. Key Responsibilities Lead the strategy, development and execution of all marketing campaigns in effort to promote SIIM conferences, education, training, membership, and other events across multiple marketing channels, including email, web, social media, print etc. Establish and maintain a cohesive and distinct brand identity that is consistent throughout all products, programs, and communications. Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure aligned messaging and integrated cross-product marketing, enhancing brand value and driving growth. Oversee content strategy and management for the website, ensuring an engaging and user-friendly experience. Develop and execute a social media strategy to grow the society's online presence, increase engagement, and boost awareness of SIIM education, membership, and events. Design, implement and maintain email marketing campaigns, providing creative direction, graphic design, and copywriting. Produce, write and edit marketing and communication assets including prospectus, preliminary program, infographics, reports, brochures, videos, flyers, and digital ads. Manage the integrated marketing and communications calendar, coordinating internal requests and campaign timelines. Leverage marketing analytics and trends to evaluate campaign performance and optimize strategies. Oversee the marketing budget, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting on performance. Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees, supporting volunteer engagement and collaboration. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Master's degree preferred. 7 years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably with a healthcare association. At least 3 years' experience in a senior leadership role. Knowledge and Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in editing/proofing digital content. Self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an engaging presentation style. Demonstrated ability to stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and marketing innovations. Proactive in identifying and implementing new tools, platforms, and strategies to improve outreach and engagement. An independent learner with a growth mindset and a passion for continuous improvement. Creative problem solver who brings fresh ideas and strategic insight to discussions and into action. An analytical thinker with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences. Experience managing contractors, vendors, and external partners. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, projects, and cross functional teams. Technical Skills Wordpress, HTML, CSS MS Office Suite Email marketing software such as Informz Social media software Google Analytics and SEO best practices Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, inDesign, Premier Pro Marketing automation tools and platforms AMS/CMS/LMS platforms Project management software Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer printer. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. May be required to work weekends and/or nights. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally. Ability to lift up and move objects up to 10 pounds. Ability to travel 10% of the time.
