FamilySearch Public Relations Specialist Internship

Join a fun, tight knit, highly functional team at FamilySearch International tasked with creating and supporting excellent content that inspires people worldwide to engage in family history. Work with internal clients, and marketing and area communication staff to help develop, coordinate, implement, or support integrated, strategic public relations and corporate communication plans and initiatives-brainstorming possibilities, updating event calendars, building media lists, creating and publishing news content, coordinating with other communication channels and supporting marketing campaigns and initiatives.
This position is Onsite in Lehi, UT.
Public Relations. Create and coordinate strategic PR plans and campaigns as part of marketing communication strategies. Draft news releases and stories, monitor and report media coverage, manage media lists, coordinate with social and product marketing, international and other department staff, and explore content opportunities.
Online Publishing. Help coordinate, curate, edit, and publish FamilySearch newsroom content that aligns with communications plans, FamilySearch messaging and follows the FamilySearch style guide.
Marketing Support. Attend meetings, work in teams, assist in executing impactful PR content to support marketing campaigns and initiatives, including the global RootsTech conference.
SEO. Learn how to do keyword research to find terms and phrases that could be used in content strategy and to coordinate news-related keyword use with other optimized content for those keywords across other organizational channels.
Tracking and Reporting. Monitor news coverage and create campaign reports or ideas for media content and relations. Other Projects as Assigned. Assist with other teams and cross-functional projects as needed. May include developing, writing, editing, event, and marketing initiatives.
Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
Experience:
Enthusiastic about publicity, outreach, influencer marketing, marketing communications, journalism, human/community interest stories, current trends, and topics core to personal and family discovery, gathering, and connections.
News or feature writing and knowledge of current media relations practices and techniques.
Strong people, communication, organization, and project management skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Hardworking, reliable, professional, and flexible.
Education:
Bachelor's (or near completion) in PR, Communications, Journalism or related study.
