How this role drives the company forward:

The Product Manager is a technical expert who manages a portfolio of products through the product life cycle. This includes launching new products, developing launch plans and promotional activities to drive sales, and training our worldwide sales team. The Product Manager supports decisions on product positioning and pricing strategy. The Product Manager drafts new marketing content and uses that content to promote the sales of products in their area of responsibility. The Product Manager must have a passion for learning, a strong technical understanding of the area of responsibility, be a good communicator, and have above average writing skills.

The Product Manager role is office-based.

Approximately 5% travel may be required.

How you will make an impact:

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and independent Product Manager to join our growing Product Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing Takara Bio's flagship mRNA-seq and immune profiling portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing workflows and downstream analysis. This includes performing these workflows during graduate studies, post-doctoral research, or in industrial employment and having previous product management experience expanding sales of NGS products into a new market segment. In this role, you will demonstrate a creative approach to drive results and build relationships with colleagues in operations, R&D, sales, and marketing. In summary, this is an ideal role for someone with good experience in product management and marketing to take ownership and grow the sales of a strategically important product portfolio with immense growth potential and deliver high-quality results to drive the business's success.

What will you do:

  • Support a portfolio of new and existing products and ensure their commercial success.
  • Work with senior marketing team to develop and implement the annual tactical marketing plan.
  • Conduct outbound marketing activities that promote our product portfolio and expertise to target customers using a combination of email, search engine, and social media marketing platforms.
  • Analyze data from marketing campaigns and clearly present conclusions to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the R&D team on new product development projects to ensure market. requirements are met and product-related technical content is generated.
  • With limited supervision, develop a portfolio of sales support tools that includes, but is not limited to, customer facing presentations, battle and cue cards, testimonials, and citations.
  • Develop web content and other tools that communicate the value proposition directly to customers.
  • Lead tactical marketing team meetings to track sales and deliver against product budget.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

How will you get here?

  • Requires a Ph.D. in biological sciences or related discipline; M.S. will be considered.
  • Requires minimum of 3 years postgraduate laboratory experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year Product Management or related experience.
  • Good knowledge of Product Management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in presenting, written and verbal communication skills is required.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team is required.

The US base salary range for this full-time position, expected to be located in San Jose, CA, is $140,000.00 - $155,000.00 USD. This range may be modified at any time at our sole discretion.
